I read 'Warlock of the Magus world' book some time ago. The only bad thing about it was the rushed ending. It has so much potential. I felt it could have been executed better in the second half.

yeah, I kind of agree with you. When I wrote the review it was at 148 chaps. The initial execution was very interesting to me. I dropped reading the raws after sometime. maybe the translator will make it interesting? who knows? But I still think it's one of the better books on this platform.

"The lone wanderer" by pathOfPen, is one of the recent novels I am reading currently. It is easily one of the really good novels I've read so far. You can give ug a try.

I know right. I have been following this story from the beginning and the dialogues don't feel normal at all. I saw no one saying anything and thought maybe I'm overthinking things.

I haven't found many balanced fantasy novels like this. I have a few novels I liked, each of them a unique novel, which you may or may not like. Other than really famous ones like Shadow Slave, ISSTMC, RI, LOTM etc. I will list them down some others here. Also if you have good novels pls list them here as well. 1. Cultivating for a hundred lifetimes to Ascension 2. Harry Potter : The Progenitor of Dark Arts 3. Magicapita 4. A Regressor's tale of cultivation 5. The Glorious Evolution 6. Rise of Black 7. HP: The Dangerous Azkaban Professor 8. Magical Marvel : The Rise of Arthur Hayes 9. Avatar TLAB: Tai Lung 10. Into the reborn universe : A reborn sorcerer 11. Re: Tales of Rune-Tech Sage 12. Marvel comics: The Sentinel (Sentry) Some incomplete works 1. All starts with Ubume. 2. Note: there are some annoying arcs in Arthur Hayes novel.

Well, I kind of agree with him continuing this research. This is not only about the profession black wizard, but also about spiritual contamination. His meditation technique generates a lot of contamination, his watch is a temporary measure for now. If he can separate two different energies and channel them into two separate profession, it's a best case scenario. In the short term it increases his knowledge on spiritual contamination and ways to purify them, like what he did to Andre.

This is a criminally underrated novel in this platform. I have read till chapter 148, and I found the worldbuilding very intricate. The system is not pro-active, apart from the OP passive skill that removes the limitations on the number of professions the MC can simultaneously practice, one can argue that it just quantifies the MCs effort and gives a proper direction for his advancements. Also the MC needs to find the information for professions and their hidden conditions for unlocking them on his own, and only then will the system validate them. Even after around 150 chapters, even if he has preliminary or incomplete knowledge about powerful professions, he cannot satisfy the physical or mental conditions to unlock them. This ensures that the power system is not broken. The MC gets an advantage in his versatility but he has to spend immense efforts to research and progress them all. First of all I find the worldbuilding incredibly done, no mindless info dump, no broken systems, no OP powers. The MC does not get handed powerful bloodlines or lucky opportunities, he earns them though his effort. Almost all the primary characters, allies or enemies have 'special talents' and there are records of some extremely powerful ones in history. The world is structured in such a way that 'special talents' are soul-bound and it is common knowledge that it cannot be stolen or taken away (as of chapter 148). Thus the MC can put up a facade of a reasonably (debatable) talented wizard, without greedy old men trying to dissect him for research. It saves me the trouble to skim though usual tropes like 'he was weak earlier, now strong, he must have an incredible treasure' storylines. This allows the MC to show reasonable progress and also get allocated more resources and opportunities from the organization. I find it more agreeable than a 'lucky' and secretive MC discovering secret realms and creating heaven defying techniques, as if the others are fools and have not found / thought about them before him. The only advantage the MC has is his ability to study / practice multiple professions which creates a positive feedback loop later in the story. Most of his original recipes / ideas draw inspiration from other professions, which to me makes sense why they were not discovered earlier as they were not common thought processes. I commend the author for the incredible research he has done for this novel. I find that the essence of multiple systems like breathing techniques of Knights, meditation / spells for Wizards, potion and alchemy / refining techniques incredibly blended together. Every basic path has tradeoffs and powerful paths have demanding conditions to unlock them. There is hardly any fillers or face slapping. There are good antagonists, cunning and resourceful, not brain-dead one dimensional characters. Till now I have yet to skip through mindless chatter that I find in other fantasy novels. There is no audience commentary during fights, as is should be, instead on the dynamics and techniques used. As for romance, there is no definite female lead yet. I like that the story does not objectify women and describe what type of 'jade beauty' she is. There are a few women characters and MC considers one of them as his close ally. She is talented and they both are pursuing theirs paths and collaborate when needed. Apart from the above, I have a personal note for the author / translator. I have read multiple novels and also fanfics of Harry Potter, Witcher, Marvel. But I kept looking for originality (I know its ironic in case of fanfics) and how I felt the power systems have not been adequately explored yet or stifled due to existing constraints. This novel fulfils all my expectations and more. This lengthy review is my way of repaying back for this great story. I hope the author / translator gets the attention he deserves. Thank you.

just an update after chapter 55, the quality has decreased a lot. I find myself scanning through the chapters full of unnecessary words that break the immersion. The same crap about how britain, purebloods trying to get him back. his detailed security measures explained exhaustively through so many chapters broken so easily. At this point the focus has drifted from pure innovation, magic, duelling, bonding with friends to just stupid drama involving the conspiracies with Britain. Sorry, I gave this story a chance, read till chap 77.
