You make very good points and I understand where you're coming from, but you should also understand that not everyone is a vengeful edge lord. Some people deal with loss and grief in very different ways, often viewed as nonsensical, Adam in this case is a weak-hearted, insecure, and lonely kid who just remembered the face of his former friend and found out that he is now his bully, try not to project the way you would deal with such a situation on a fictional character... Thank you for reading, though.

That's an excellent enquiry that I wanted to dive into later on in the story. Awakening in this world can happen at any stage in a person's life, could even happen in the last years of their lives, which is something that I will explain in further detail later on in the story.
