To really check it out, they'd need to be let into the very heart of Hogwarts' magic – its protective wards. Dumbledore couldn't let that happen. Those wards keep the school safe, making it one of the safest places in all of Britain. Currently he's not used to the knowledge/combat yet so he would be more sneaky and strategic as you've portrayed him in recent chapters as opposed to simply going in macho guns blazing and mowing down all opposition without spilling a drop of sweat.
