author rapier’s can’t be used as swords siply because they are thin. which also means more fragile. The reason why they wheren’t widely used is because they can only be used effectively in long range stabbing attacks. their only advantages are that they are longer and faster at attacking than swords. they are also very fragile and very telegraphed. Which is the reason you have to be very fast when using them.

I honestly think the idiot is the author that wants us to believe that the sword master that was training him didn’t gave him a lesson on not underestimating his oponentes.

Why a rapier. aren’t they too long and fragile. Sure it’s a fast attacking wepon, but has way less maneuverability than a short sword. Also rapiers so too little damage and there is no way a rapier is getting through any armor. So it is only effective against unarmored opponents. a rope dart would be a much better wepon for the MC. it would fit much more with his highly maneuverable and agile fighting style. It would also make much more damage than a rapier.
