Its what he deserves, if it werent for Obito, Madara or Zetsu in the canon, Danzo would have been the one to make the Fourth Ninja War. And when I see fanfics about him creating the Third War one way or another, I believe that. He's responsable for so many messes in the series that he should be a deux machina.
And dying as a traitor is his biggest fear. And he will get that for all he had done.
