So far it’s been a great story, I have only noticed one part where the translation wasn’t too good (it wasn’t misspellings, but a bit ago a paragraph repeated itself) other than that the translation has been good. I like the development of the story a lot, it’s a mix between comics and live action, but it seems to lean more so towards live action, with some differences mixed in. It was nice to see a story with no harem, since (for me) that can ruin a story quite easily, and his relationship with Amora is built up decently well.
I’ll give the story 2 stars at least for the authors work on the translation, but the story itself can be quite annoying. Firstly, this is a Chinese Story, translated from MTL to here, and with that this story has quite a bit of “China is superior” rhetoric. A few examples of this is the MC saying he’s from a “superior culinary nation” (China) and how earlier than that statement, he was speaking about how Japan can’t make certain pancakes the way they can in China. Beyond that, there’s some plot holes in the story. The main character is supposed to be from the Tang dynasty in China, yet seems to have knowledge about WebNovels, and even Food Wars as a whole. On top of that, the main character runs a restaurant and openly sells Sake (alcohol) to minors. All around, despite the translators efforts its pretty clear that Chinese nationalism is going to be quite present in this (but most likely dialed down by the translator, at least I would hope)
Yea I ended up reading a bit and saw that too lol, thanks
Gotham is not the least dangerous city at all, it’s widely considered one of, if not the most dangerous. many of what you mentioned doesn’t affect the regular populace on a large scale too often, reverse flash? He just hates Barry. Gotham on the other hand has not only the super villains such as Joker, or scarecrow that will kill or infect the common person for no reason, but the biggest amount of street level villains that will kill or rob you. Depending on the comic Gotham itself is literally cursed, allowing the crime to prosper so much, sure there’s big events that affect other cities, but the frequency and scale in Gotham is larger than almost everywhere else
Haven’t read too much of the story so this review could change, but at least so far it’s mostly just an exact copy of what happened in the first Kung Fu Panda movie, with just a little bit of different dialogue with Tai Lung. On top of that, the MC is hugely hypocritical, and his actions don’t make much sense. The author claims he’s trying to make the MC act as how Tai Ling would, with just a little bit of differences since he has 2 lives memories, and talks about how Tai Lung didn’t do much wrong and never killed anyone. Yet when he escapes prison, and is trying to dine and dash at a restaurant, and is stopped by someone telling him to pay, he seemingly kills the person, and for whatever reason beats up the other customers in the store until they’re bloodied up with broken bones. But apparently it’s not a villainous MC since “Tai Lung isn’t a villain” then what is he?
You are trying to make the MC be like Tai Lung, who you view as someone who doesn’t kill and did barely anything wrong, yet he seemingly killed the guy trying to stop him from dining and dashing, and left every other random customer in the shop bloody and with broken bones? This doesn’t make sense
I haven’t read it yet but don’t mind spoilers, questionable how?
At least so far (chapter 15) it’s been an ok story, but like with what I find with many other fanfics on this site, the MC is too focused on thinking with his lower half at times, like for what reason are you telling me about him( a now highschool boy) jerking off to Midnight? And why is he right up against Nejire when spotting her doing squats, that isn’t how you spot someone. Also what was his age in his previous life? It gets confusing when he immediately asks Midnight (an adult) to go out with him when he sees her, but then is fawning over this middle school girl (now in highschool) It seems like the author just wanted a reason to justify his MC being an annoying horny character so he gave him a cultivation technique that increase his Libido, why he thought this was good for his story I’m not sure. I’m sure some people are fine with these things and even prefer it, but to me it just completley takes away from the story
I liked the concept a lot at first, but the story turns into just constant mention of sex and things if the sort. It’s starting to get extremely annoying seein got so often every chapter, and in that same regard the MC (at least for me) is not very likeable at all. There also seems to be this weird concept of the MC wanting to make Harley and Ivy a part of his harem while they still continue to date one another.
I don’t think an “item” would make up for the massive exp loss dying to Hilda would bring, and the repercussions from the top guilds / players. The MC just seems extremly selfish here. But beyond that, some of these people seem to know John, none of them decided to message him on some platform? I feel like this entire plan is banking on the people’s who’s body the MC takes doesnt rat him out, which they all should be eventually
This seems a bit unbalanced with how much exp you would lose if 1: a high level player killer targeted low levels, or 2: you stumble into a higher level area, get killed, then lose almost all of your levels. It should just scale based off what level you are, so having a lower level = less exp loss
You can’t just gain enlightenment, also what would he even get it for rn?
