Not really. If you don't keep the bloodline poor, you give other houses claim to the dragons. The one supreme weapon of the ASOIAF world. And that will be stupid asf. And the worst case scenario, imagine giving a dragon riding princess to some novel , boom you created your own enemy. Look at Velaryons they would have never been able to defy Targaryen had Rhaenys not married into that house. It eventually led to the rebellion. So keeping bloodline pure is extremely important for a dragonlord house such as Targaryens.
