i actually live near an airport and unlike you expect commercial planes taking off aren't usually heard if you're just a good distance away since airports are usually really large even if you live near one the runway where planes take off would still be a good distance away from you cause of runways are mostly in the center of airports so they're usually built a bit farther the surrounding residential or any type of areas actually the only time where you would hear a plane is when it's about to land and it somehow passes over you or when fighter jets take off from them which are loud asf actually and they just deafen everything
