Haki reserves imo are like how much will you have. Even the most committed people get mentally fatigued, so I think Haki reserves is basically how long your will can tolerate you using Haki till you are literally too exhausted mentally, kind of like Mond Out/Down from Danmachi, or whatever it's name was.
