The thing about making OC love interests or making lots of OCs in a story it's that fans/readers don't like it. And the reasons is that if you're using an existing world in fiction you should use the things there, if you want to make the OCs work you'll have to make them related or connected to existing characters so it doesn't ruin the "immersion" so to speak.

I know with mana sense it seems redundant but considering that some "monsters" might be hidden bellow ground it could help out or even in cases of the cases he needs to sense things without mana... line a boulder going his way like Indiana Jones or an avalanche?
