I mean, the guy has a couple of super rich friends. Would they not be willing to help?

His mother didn't like him walking around these kinds of people. But he knew very well that getting money the normal way was impossible.

just thought to clarify (no need to edit the story author) For US military there are generally two rank paths. the first (called enlisted) are the sergeants. Officers have had schooling to get their ranks (enlisted can go to officer training). Both can get to high ranking positions tho technically the lowest officer rank is higher up than the enlisted (technically because as a fresh officer you want to still respect sergeants cause they have knowledge and connections) In many cases jobs are held by both enlisted and officers, the difference being officers are generally given leadership roles. for example a developmental engineer in the USAF can start as 2nd lt. officer and eventually may become a general (or at least a Col.) Originally he may be doing Engineering, but later on his assignments will focus more on managment.

The recent increase in his security clearance pushed Sam to the level of a captain, even so his title stayed the same. Sam was a noncombatant and wasn't that involved with the rest of the troops so it didn't make sense for his position to be higher.

Is anyone "normal"? Or are the "normal" people those with sheep mentality, or better actors than the rest of us? Also regarding size there are averages which differ based on geographical location (mostly due to heritage ethnicity AKA genes)

((It was only natural that I'd win, after all unlike you I'm a real monster. A monster with zero resemblance to those disgusting waste-of-air-and-space called humans. You are weak because you care I'm strong because I don't care, you stood a better chance of winning if you didn't get consumed by revenge driven emotions and came back later once you were more prepared…emotions are weak do not hope, do not trust, do not love, do not look forward and do not fight for anything other than yourself, that is how a true monster thrives))

I dunno what the latest is, but hobbit may be a copywrighted/trademarked term. just a heads up that it may make author liable.

It would've made sense if he was from a race of short stature such as halfling, hobbit, or dwarf, but no matter how one looked at him, that escort was, at very least in appearance, a human. And his face still looked innocent, like a child, so Ellen guessed he must be in his early teens.

...I don't think the message is getting through

His lack of willingness to socialise is actually one of the reasons why I regularly pester him with strange demands like "cary me to the roof" or "take me to the city", I want to make him feel included, I want to help make his world just a little less lonely, just like how he made mine, even though he doesn't show it, Markus's world is incredibly barren, isolated and sad.

believe "learning" in this paragraph should be earning. P.S. Author, if you are already aware of, or do not care/need these syntax and diction edits just let me know and I will stop bothering you.

Despite being a gaudy, overly decorated weapon, it is a sword with a genuine blade and a genuine killing ability. By learning it, they will take the first step as an "adult."

Frickin' amazing chapter Author, you just about made me cry tears of joy. You have not fallen into the trap prevalent in most LN and WN: the only actual "personable" character being the protagonist. I have come to the conclusion that to write a story that does not seem flat as paper one needs to, at least, create a basic personality and goal for EVERY character that speaks or who's act is explicitly mentioned! The goals may not be brought up, the personality may be obscure and not easily identified, but this will help create interactions and actions that seem real and lifelike. IRL every person's act either brings them closer to a goal/desire or expresses emotion/personality. Hence my belief that every character in a story meeds the basic parts. THANK YOU!!!

Weird, it's almost as if all books are influenced by others.

((Sophia Rosewood, her backstory in the game is as follows:" born as the only daughter to the prestigious bloodline of the Rosewood house, Sophia grew up in an environment filled with constant isolation as well as bullying from one of the maids serving in her house, her only parent is often busy with work and has little time to spend raising his daughter, all of this coupled with the pressure of being the heir of Rosewood has caused her to be highly reclusive and unwilling to open up to others in fear of getting hurt...that is until, a certain demon came into her life))

Dunno how exactly to fix the sentence...but just thought I'd mark it for you.

Although it was a bad idea to overwhelm a fearful, confused and vulnerable young girl with such questions right now, Markus was one of little if any social interaction skills as unlike his other mental prowesses, his interpersonal intelligence was less than that of a 5 year old with avoidant personality disorder so he insensitively bombarded the girl with queries.
