as far as I know from the lore male models were a thing but because of some plot about making an all male model team that was made to fail every single expedition to collect data by commander white while her all female model team saw success they made all combat types into female models to keep up appearences (because humanity is gone but they don't want the other androids lose a purpose to keep fighting the machines) and left the sensors as the only type with male models so they can keep another part of humanity still in the present day as they quite litterely worship humanity and don't want anything as major as eliminating a whole other gender even they framed it as if the female models were better so they made one of the only noncombat types yorha androids as some of the only male yorha models left but for non yorha units there still many male androids on the planet.
