So I've been thinking and the last few days have been me forcing myself to write some chapters. I'm gonna need a break, as I feel that if I keep forcing myself. I like the explanation that another fanfic called Quest maker of Soul Land gave. The explanation was like every major step in cultivation of a Soul Beast their memories of the previous one get like more subdued, so they aren't that old mentally. The reason I like this explanation is that it gives a reason why these old Soul Beasts don't really act their age and with it their acquired wisdom.
Any author who says :"Oh no, that's just their cultivation base!" Is an idiot who wants to justify adding a fucking ancient grandma into the harem. Which I despise because there is absolutely no redeeming quality about that retarded bitch. She's pretty? Who isn't beautiful in a xianxia world? She has long legs? I think it works like this: If you use stronger weapons you get less Exilia, because you don't struggle as much as someone who is on the same powerlevel with worse weapons. But because Bell is already (without his own weapon creations) too powerful for the floor it doesn't matter, because either way he won't struggle even a little bit.

Not that I think what I wrote is correct, but they were already outside of the great hall and in the paragraph above it is stated that it was chaos and everyone was practically lost. So you're question is hopefully answered and I hope I didn't sound condescending in any way shape or form.
