Hi Rosanne. Thanks very much for your comments. I really appreciate it.🥰 Yes, the term “informant” is used in death registration certificates. The document I used as reference is form BD16-1/98. Earlier versions also used that term.
Thank you so much, Elsa and HDBaiano. I hope you’ll truly enjoy this book. I’ve added many bits of additional information right thru the book, and also provided more history and backstories of the characters in the comments at the end of each chapter. Should you have any points you wish to clarify, I’ll be very happy to provide you with more on the background. ❤️❤️❤️
Malaysia is a land of rich and diverse cultures harking back to the ancient days of expansionism of Southern India, to the coming of Islam, the european conquests of the Portuguese, Dutch, and English. It’d take several books to even summarize the intricacies of its history. The titles have Hindu roots, from a time long forgotten as maritime warlords expanded their influences from the indonesian archipelago. The term “nyonya” is an especially interesting one. There were numerous waves of migration from the time of the Ming and many settled in the sultanate of Malacca. later, during the tinmining boom under the British, a large number of Chinese emigrants who joined the diaspora adopted their lifestyle and considered themselves Baba Nyonya.
Thanks so much for your comments, Barbara.❤️ I will certainly take a note on your valuable feedback— it’s very much appreciated. True, it was a private moment and she does get get a bit soppy at times, haha.🤗 But when her back story is revealed later, it becomes clearer why…. I assure you she’s made of sterner stuff and can be strong-willed when the situation demands. I hope you’ll enjoy her journey as she discovers more of her inner self. 🍷🌹🌹
