I think you messed up there author.Because if ten coppers make one silver that would mean that mc has the equivalent of 8 silvers. And if those 8 silvers equal to 26 dollars then 1 silver equals to 3.25 dollars. It should rather be that 100 coppers equal to 1 silver.
