Yeah, unfortunately it's just like you say. It's simply too much to keep track of, so RinoZ has basically resorted to just handwaving it by this point.

Not only is there precedence in the custom-made classes, etc, but it's also a +35 mutation, which is the point where significantly better options get unlocked.
