Maybe she had him in secret but couldn’t keep him in the tower??
Lucifer’s not a unique character that has to fit any defined gender like James Bond who has a history of being a male. For it to be a gender bende they need to have a predetermined gender.
Why would you raise that flag

sorry I wrote a lot, I tend to do this when something excites me
I am gonna be 100% honest here. it is such a breath of fresh hair to read a novel on here that doesn't sound like it's been written by a 8-year old. I dont mean to bash other authors but sometimes the improper sentence structure and grammar make it a chore to read and very often I drop the novel because of it. I didn't give 5 stars because it's too early for me to judge how the world and characters will be developed. Arvell's character has been fleshed out really well so I have high hopes for the future. In terms of suggestion I'd say dont fall into the trap of cliches and generic tropes that make a novel cringe to read. Also, when possible include insight into the world around him and I can see that you've started to do this with the thales river. I enjoy these tid bits of information that construct a vast and expansive world that isnt limited to what Arvell is a part of. I think that this novel may benefit from a third person omniscient perspective to help develop characters that aren't the main character. I just hope to see more in depth insight into characters' emotions and opinions that influence their decisions and actions and also make sense. For example, his mother seems to be more than what she appears to be and I think that it's a really great story element that differentiates this Novel from others where he never had any support in the castle and its this sob story that's been overused so many times. The pacing as well is very good, it feels like there is never anytime for Arvell to ever rest and the tone and mood of the novel conveys the rush and desperation that Arvell feels. Overall this is a very promising novel and I cant wait to see more chapters.
