Just to give my own thoughts are you telling that a grown ass man who died and found himself in a hostile environment not immediately trying to at least get himself some privacy and try out the only thing in his arsenal that can be used against any kind of foe at his age is a little wobbly and no need tp constantly justify dursleys sure they didn't want the child and the expense that come with him no need to make them more liked in the story it doesnt make any sense for any child to suffer and I got whooped by mom in childhood but it was always for mistakes that could potentially harm me catastrophically and it's not like petunia didn't know about magic if they were so sure of not wanting him she should have dumped him in an orphanage petunia taking him in and categorically abusing him psychologically I felt was more to one up lily in a way see you may have magic and your son may have magic but he will be under my heel for however long I have to tolerate him was the message I felt petunia was going about in both books and movies
