To be fair, Thomas is the homewrecker - discards his wife and daughter to marry a woman for her money, but insist his ex wife and daughter still live with them. Katherine may not be a nice person, but she's been used from the beginning and played for a fool by a selfish man. How many of us could say we'd respond well to marrying a guy, bankrolling him, whilst having his ex and daughter still live in the house and be supported by our money. She fell in love with the wrong guy, got used, and she has her own daughters to safeguard. This is squarely on Thomas.
