Well that just a crazy opinion in my mine seeing as all the people killed in such act were directly stated to be filled with sin in their every waking thought. It even spoke of them sacrificing babies. And god at the time was considered to be quite wrathful to those who know the wrong they commit but continue in just of him. I often fine the god not being merciful argument fall apart when you look at the fact that god gives chance after chance but the moment he does what is necessary people scream evil. When he punishs they say evil when he doesn’t they say evil. The only bad thing that would make since to say of god is the job text and many see is as a allegory as the bible uses a lot of them to showcase ideology of the religion as the bible isn’t a history book but one to show you how to live. But many see this as a cop out which I understand as many people say “Christians” allow certain things to be facts and others mere lessons and allegory.
