Bannerfeld
Nilus wakes up face-down in the straw of a foreign stable, trapped in the skeletal body of a bastard he doesn't know. He is a "toothpick" in a world of biological tanks, a place where humanity has been the prey for five centuries and the social hierarchy is enforced by magic he doesn't possess.
The only thing he recognises is his sister, Cassia. She’s here too, living in the manor above him, being groomed for a future that will eventually take her where he can't follow.
Nilus is malnourished, status-less, and physically broken, but he’s been given a "gift" he never asked for: Apex Predator. It’s a system that rewards the kill, allowing him to harvest the strength and mana of those who fall before him. In a world of noble "Cores" and ancient monsters, Nilus is the harvester.
From the filth of the pig pens to the marble halls of the elite, Nilus has to decide how much of his own humanity he's willing to vomit up to become the monster this world needs him to be. The world was designed to break him, and it will, but he isn't going to go down without a fight.
