Thank you for this review. This is generally something I find wrong in a lot of xianxia novels, especially CN ones. At the very least, they should acknowledge that violent environments birth violent people. I actually wrote a whole novel basically to play with this "power at all costs" cliche, just to play with the "all costs" part that many of these novels seem to downplay. Which is quite sad, because in Buddhism you're supposed to forsake mortal ambitions and short term desires for the sake of enlightenment. Chinese fiction and cultivation is supposed to be based on Buddhism, so why did they forget that?
