I see what you mean, but I’m not sure that still holds up. GW has been inconsistent with canon for years—modern 40k doesn’t really stick to the old codexes or the original grimdark tone. That’s why I’m hesitant to accept the idea of the Chaos Gods as just another regular antagonist for narrative convenience. Their power levels always seem to shift depending on the story GW wants to tell.
