She is smart like Ethan. I think jane had twins and because of the plan somehow vincet told Helena about one child which is Ethan then he hid Mia from Helena (Monica) so that he can have one child but also succeed with the plan. Since he was in love with Phantom he maybe felt like he was the father ( even if he's not) so then with that convincing thought he stayed with Mia like a daughter while telling people it's his niece so that he can avoid questioning about the mother and everything from Helena and other people.
