I think it's due to the UK counting floors differently so some translations likely corrected for that, making the RoR on the 8th, and the forbidden corridor from the first book on the 4th instead of the 3rd. Seen one Fanfic's USA-raised MC spend half a year searching the wrong floor, just to complain about the stupid UK floor numbering system.

True, but as far as I know, it's only Europe(most not all) that does it. Most of the world doesn't, so my comment was correct. USA isn't most of the world, China does the same as the US, and their population would still make my comment true either if the US doesn't.

No idea where a basement came into this. So ignoring that part. If you are unaware, in the UK the floor on the ground level is the Ground Floor, not the 1st as per most of the world. This book also says the RoR is on the 8th floor instead of the 7th, so it tracks.
