Rhaella did not fully understand it. She could understand Ser Arthur and Ser Oswell behaving this way, since both of them had been incredibly close to Rhaegar. But Ser Gerold was a man of strict knighthood principles, making his behavior quite strange to her. Perhaps it was because Baelor was Rhaegar's chosen heir to follow him, or perhaps these knights believed in the same prophecy Rhaegar had been obsessed with. She simply did not know. Sometimes she wondered whether these knights would care about her life or Viserys's life at all, or if they would eventually become a threat to her own son and her other grandchildren. Still, whatever the reason, the truth remained clear. The Kingsguard viewed Baelor as the future of House Targaryen, perhaps even as the future king.
