The standouts for me were the character descriptions, the MC's outlook (dry, sarcastic, blunt -- my bread and butter) and the setting. Clemen's description rips. I'm instantly intrigued with the introduction and again at the conclusion. There's just enough told to maintain interest; no agonizing over speed bumps or minute detail, rather, it feels like a well-paced unraveling of important pieces that doesn't overdo itself and never overstays its welcome. 'Course it's only one chapter though so hopefully it keeps up.
