And they would be dead without him, face it. Without Sunny they would lost the initial engagement, maybe hero would escape if they ran away immediately and abandoned the slaves but otherwise they’d be gone too. Besides you forget that this a nightmare, for all he knows this isn’t real. Even the cop from the beginning told to pretend these people were illusions.

"There is nothing more pathetic than a slave who begins to trust his slaver."

Did you really think that walls could stop what is essentially a sentient and murderous blizzard? They would just freeze to death inside the walls.

Only when their shadows had turned lifeless and empty did Sunny allow himself to dissipate into the darkness, escaping the murderous cold.

Exactly, like I just said, Sunny doesn’t even know if these people are real or died a long time ago. To just give up let himself die for this “hero” is nothing more than surrender.

"You people… Look at you! Planning to kill me and still insisting on having a good excuse. How very convenient! I really hate hypocrites like you the most. Why don't you be honest for once? Don't give me that crap... just say it! I'm going to kill you because it's easy. I'm going to kill you because I want to survive."

What part of this is psychotic? The entire situation is desperate, there is no room for delusions when making desicions like this.

"I mean that we don't have to put all our eggs in one basket. Your mission is not to protect every person in this facility, Sunless. Unlike mine. Your mission is to rescue one specific, high-value target. Both of us have to carry out our duty to the best of our ability, though. So… take Professor Obel, load up your APC, and leave immediately. This way, even if your theory is right, it won't be… a total loss for humanity."

My guy, the infection is more like a conscription order then it is a disease. When a soldier goes to war, the prepare for their death but they will fight for their lives. Or do you expect them to just surrender? Being prepared for death does not mean you are willing to die.

Do you plan on leaving Bombs in every police station specifically for this purpose? What if there aren't enough bombs? What if the bombs blow up the building? They're already prepping by strapping them down and calling for help, anymore and it would require a lot of government spending to maintain.

"If you survive, you will be halfway to becoming an Awakened. But if you die, you'll open a gate for a Nightmare Creature to appear in the real world. Which means that my colleagues and I will have to deal with it. So… please don't die, Sunless."

Think of it like programming languages, Hope wrote the magic for the ivory tower using runic magic while Prince of the Underworld wanted to connect to that magic so he also used runic magic.

Was it, perhaps, because the connecting portal on the Ivory Island had been? The Prince of the Underworld had built the tower in the Sky Below long after Hope had built hers, after all. In fact, he had done so after his sister was already imprisoned, to harvest the divine flames that had destroyed her domain. It would have made sense for him to use runic magic to invade an already existing system of portals that had been based on it.

I’ve left it alone for several months now due to other novels and some personal stuff. So yeah it’s been gathering quite a bit of dust.

This is a passion work. So, I would really appreciate it if you leave behind a review when you're done reading.

They would have to scrap the paint of the blade in order to make it usable however and over time that might dull the knife.

Trissy approached Frye silently, made her way behind him. It was unknown when a dagger smeared with 'black paint' appeared in her hand.

For a Victorian telegraph? I’m pretty sure it was the norm.

The ocean that separated the Northern and Southern continent was called the Berserk Sea. It was well known for natural calamities and its countless dangerous currents. If it was not for Emperor Roselle, who sent men to discover a few safer sailing routes, countries in the Northern Continent would still have yet to enter the age of colonization, let alone lay an underwater cable to complete a transoceanic telegraph.

Actually during the time the corsets were common fashion they were reasonable and didn’t torture the people wearing them. The reason they torture people today is because they don’t WEAR THEM PROPERLY. Ladies back then rarely if ever tight laced their corsets because of how restricted it was.

Audrey Hall was wearing a collared, high-waisted, pale-white dress with engageantes. Her corset was tightly fitted, while her voluminous layers were puffed up perfectly with a cage crinoline.

If Sunny knew his way around cold weapons, he would have called it a tang dao. However, he had no idea about such things: all he could gather was that the blade was single-edged, which meant that it was probably meant for slashing and cutting as opposed to piercing, and that the handle was long enough to accommodate two hands.
