Reminds me of weird novel about a world where most everyone lacked any emotions. They used a select few to seal emotions. Only those few can express any emotion. The masses see these people strange, mad, and something to be feared. Doesn't help when treated like the bubonic plague.
"I myself was not there when it happened, but the brother of a good friend of mine had seen it with his own eyes. In a library, an old woman, walking with a cane, had pulled forth a book from the shelf, placed it down, and when she opened it, he could see licks of lame coming from it. Yet, no one stops anyone from brainwashing people. Given that doing such a thing can be unintentional. Even if someone had no ill-intent, bad scenario still happens. Life is a game of risk. Everyone desires to be good in one thing or another, but some people feel like below average have been convinced not to chase their dreams. Nothing is more vile than family an friends not support you.
Those who seek to control others, pull them away from their own self, sway them to their cause using methods other than simply talking and actually convincing them? Those are poor people. In hunting, your very first attack should be the last. If you do not kill the prey, at the very least it should be crippled, unable to run, and badly hurt. A lot of them are purely living weapons. Just look up a variety of soul beast related novels. Fair amount of them only use a beast's soul as the very weapon, and might provide a simple stat boost outside of combat.

The only thing he had less trouble with was bird, since there weren't too many of them, and Elliot kept them at bay. The animals in here were slightly monstrous, but certainly not much worse than what Earth had to service. Seriously, some vulture that projectile vomits the rotten, putrid corpse it just ate? Order has always been flimsy at best.
