It's because the prototype Omnitrix needed primus so it can actually work. However THE Omnitrix (the one that azmuth gave him at the end of the ultimate alien) doesn't have that setback anymore. Here, this is an easier way to understand: Think of primus as your computer and the Omnitrix is like an ipod, after downloading music from your computer to your ipod, you can then disconnect your ipod and continue listening to said music. There's a better explanation to your question if this one one didn't suffice. Ok I'm gonna say this, At the beginning I liked it very much, it was fun to read and pleasant at the same time, but slowly it started to become something I don't like to read anymore. I don't know why or how, maybe because you gave him Iron-man DNA which didn't make sense, since iron man as (Tony Stark) is human and his suit doesn't have DNA, plus you made overpowered and underpowered at the same time, like you gave him Alien x and Clockwork, which are Ben's most powerful transformations but they can't bring back people from the dead?, I'm sorry if that's what you don't want to hear but I don't like at all, it's your story and you can do whatever you want. Hopefully you'll improve your story.
