actually, there is a chance that pitou is female since there was never an indication of which gender pitou was in the raw. The English version is basically just a guessing pitou was male, and if I remember correctly, the people responsible for the English version of hxh later regretted referring to pitou as male or something. So effectively, it's up to ones own interpretation whether Neferpitou is male, female, or something else.
