I quite enjoy that he is willing punch back. I often find that it is missing from protagonist to throw their power around even if it is disadvantageous of them and often puts everyone around them in danger. I suppose the fight between magneto was a bit abrupt emotionally and probably could been written better but I don't believe it was bad. It was just... simple. But, simple often builds reputation. Reputation that will save the MC hassle should the author write it well.
