I'm sure this is probably somewhat off the mark since I don't speak Chinese, but from what I understand, "wang" can mean "king" and "dao" can mean "way" or "path." so, maybe it's directly "kingly way?" i think in places like China and Japan, kings were expected to be benevolent and wise rulers, carrying the aspirations of their subjects and even exceeding them, bringing hope to the masses. to do so, they had to be stern but understanding and not afraid to be ruthless when necessary. honestly, I'm not sure how many succeeded in real life, but the ideals are there.

hmm.. I approve. at first glance, it's not really a very awe-inspiring name, but hope is one of the strongest emotions out there. as long as there is even just an inkling of hope, people will strive.
