keeping a child in a closet is not a crime. wut?
But to be frank, from the standpoint of my own experience, I saw nothing criminal in the Dursley couple's attitude toward me. They didn't exactly come across as good guardians either… Vernon simply didn't want some other person's child in his house, a kid who happened to be some relation of his wife. Petunia just didn't much care for me — apparently she'd had some serious falling-out with her sister, and her feelings about her had partly carried over to me.
