Wasn't Madeline's Hair Brown and Beth's Hair blonde? Mr Heathcliff should def prolong getting back the dress, if he's smart he got an excuse to talk to her.
Upon returning home, Madeline removed the dress that she wore and the pins that were pushed into her hair, freeing her blonde hair where she weaved her hand through to comb it.
