Honestly, this is probably one of the best—if not the best—Chinese webnovel I’ve ever read. I have nothing to say about it besides praise. First, the translation/prose is great— for a translated novel, of course. The world is fleshed out and everything is planned well. You can tell the author spent his time and didn’t just start pantsing. LOTM does not follow common tropes, which is a big plus. It’s kind of juvenile but compared to others in its genre, it isn’t. This doesn’t feed off of cheap wish fulfillment and power fantasies— it goes beyond that, I say. The characters aren’t two dimensional, too. Another big plus I want to mention is that the transmigration part is not a trick. Other authors will write a transmigration novel but the protagonist wouldn’t be bothered. It just becomes a way of self insert. Here, Klein’s goal and the overarching plot is going back home. The gap of quality between this and other chinese webnovels is pretty comical, honestly. I think this would be able to stand pretty well even if it was a western published novel.
