I mean he could probably GUESS that it was a quick summon by looking at it, but that doesn't mean he knows for sure. That being said! I do like how Caster is a much more challenging match for Sunny here given how he's been observing Sunny just as much as our hero had Caster!

to be fair, if you weren't reading a book or had no idea you were in a story and some nutcase came up to you and started asking for your blood, wouldn't you think he was some kind of psycho rather than an otherwise rational human being with blood related superpowers? 😉

Oh God, an even bigger mistake. Hopefully they squish this first. A resistance, they can fight out. But ideological poison will take generations of deprogramming to scrape the rot from their society.

Doesn't Vaan literally have a whole garbage heap stuck inside his head still? He ought to grab something useful from that and use it as an excuse to approach Sacha while she digs for scraps. I mean by the time I'm writing this, the story is long past this part BUT it's just my best guess for what he might do.
