To be honest, I feel like their relationship is borderline unhealthy. No scratch that it is; at least with how Pol views the emperor. I understand because of her harsh life why but...I really wish Pol could get therapy and get better self-esteem. But of course, this probably wouldn't be around during those times, or if it was, women probably didn't have much access to it. I know a lot of people have been defending Pol but honestly, I just don't agree with her reasoning sometimes. Like, I almost don't want to ship them anymore. Just want them both to have healthy, happy lives.
I am appalled by how people did punishments. I enjoy the romance and female rights in this story, as well as the character developments, but the lack of mercy shown in this book is just sad. I know many people were like this back in those days, but even back then, it shouldn't have been excused. People were sick.
This is my least liked chapter of the whole book
