Was it his thin frame that trembled ever so slightly when drenched in the rain? Or the way he clung to Song Zhuyu with such desperation and anxiety like the very air keeping him alive? Or perhaps it was the fact that Rui Ye was blind, which made Song Zhuyu feel at ease since he knew the way Rui Ye treated him was entirely due to who he was, and not what he looked like? quite honestly... one of the best scenes of Tokyo ghoul and illustrates the author's idea perfectly

Nonetheless, it was more than enough for Song Zhuyu to see that something was very terribly wrong with Rui Ye's current state; his fair skin was now streaked with black tendrils akin to lightning, and his lips had taken on a ghastly gray hue, making him appear more dead than alive.
