Hours passed, she had only stopped to eat some more wolf-meat and tie new binding over her wound. Finally in the distance she saw the familiar signs of civilization. Pathways through the forest, and it was clear some of the trees had been brought down by axes. Then she saw gently drifting smoke in the distance, 'Fireplaces!' she smiled. She started into a jog until she came out of the forest only to see what appeared to be medieval walls surrounding a bustling city. There were people lined up in front of the gates in peasant garb with wagons being pulled by large bird creatures. She stopped dead in her tracks, not only was this not her world, but they were primitive! She still needed better dressing on her wound so she started to walk towards the line waiting to get into the gate. As she approached she saw that the people waiting were a mix of different species. There were humans, but there were also animal people that had adorable dog-like ears and fluffy tails on what was otherwise human bodies. Then there was some kind of lizard person and… 'Are those elves?!' she thought to herself as she saw the familiar pointy ears from fantasy tropes. - _Keziah_3yrCommented

The protagonist of the stories with 'crossing-over' trope made it seems easy; they could accept their situation, finding out they had been transported into a new world where they were all alone, so easily as if they were having a pleasure trip.
