I understand this from a modern perspective but because we are now blessed with passing knowledge than just word of mouth or books which were both extremely expensive if you wanted something actually useful and besides they don't really have the safety of trying to go for a better future as most commoners or plebs just basically train to become a knight and wait for war for achievements and glory for a better position.
