I think they can, but the limitation is the amount of Chakra that the clone has, since it should not be able to regenerate chakra, and when the limited amount that was passed from the original to the clone runs out it disappears, remembering that this is still a restricted technique for low-ranking ninjas and not everyone is Naruto to create a lot of clones.

I may be wrong, but from what I remember, the hand signals symbolize the paths that the ninja must take with his Chakra, so if he is a very skilled ninja and the jutsu hand signals are known, I think they could be replicated.
