First time i’ve given a novel all 5s in trial read. The only way the author could possibly screw this up is if he makes it a harem or doesn’t have MC get together with the main girl. An easygoing comedy slice of life.

Well, its more like how you can feel killing intent and people staring at you in novels, but not in real life. He is detecting malice, just like how mcs detect killing intent.

A decent story if the author stuck to what he was good at. He attempts to introduce a love interest, which is good. It works somewhat well, which is good. Until he fucked it up. Instead of naturally progressing the characters together, an elder basically asks them if they wanna get married. Terrible way to develop a romantic subplot. I get you wanted MC to have a wife, but you didn’t have to be so low effort about it. They get somewhat close quite quickly, despite only meeting on about 5 separate occasions. The large time skips between their meetings does not give the impression that they are very passionate about each other. Their development could have been handled significantly better, but instead the author decided to smash two characters who only met a few times together. I can’t take how fast she refers to MC affectionately after just getting married. Like bro, you only met like 5 times. Terrible development on author’s part.

As always, WN seems to always be able to fuck up a decent story. Translations fall off after chapter 40, as always. However, im pretty sure this story has been adapted into a manhua. Maybe the translations will be better there. Story is decent, nice premise, but goddamn WN’s mtl is ruthless.

I think the main point is teasing you with the big reveal. If you stuck with “I’m actually a cultivation bigshot”, you would feel pretty good with the final reveal.

Shit man. WN tends to do this, translating with real humans for the trial of 40 chaps, and then switching to MTL with little to no editing past that. Idk if its a budget cut or smth, but it really turns people off the novel. A shame to see a decent novel get buried.

Honestly, its a good concept and scenario, but the author seems subpar. I’m not really invested in these characters much, to which i blame the author’s poor writing skill, but i must say the author had a good idea with this concept.
