he was disappointed because it wasn't as big as Itachi's plus their was no need to test his chakra nature as all Uchiha have a fire nature plus if you're saying that it's dumb not to test it when you have the chance the only way to test it is to get chakra paper but the manga and the anime never explained how rare chakra paper is only that it comes from a specific type of tree anyway there's no reason to test your chakra nature untill your a chunin as it's an advanced form of chakra control so that means he should learn the leaf sticking technique, then tree climbing, and the water walking technique before he starts to learn how to add a chakra nature to his jutsu it why none of the academy jutsu use a chakra nature as it's considered an advanced technique that takes even jonin year's to learn fully naruto learned so fast thanks to the multi shadow clone jutsu speeding up his training from year's to day's or week's so if the mc or any kid from naruto decided to focus on chakra nature before they learned the basics of chakra control it would be almost impossible for them to do the technique so no not learning your chakra nature before you learn how to perform a jutsu properly or even how to control your chakra is not dumb PS. you only need to know your chakra nature so you know what type of ninjutsu will be easier for you to use if you have a fire nature you can still use water natured jutsu it would just require more chakra to use then if you used a fire jutsu naruto didn't learn his chakra nature till episode #55 of Shippuden or chapter's #314 - #316 of the manga you don't need to know your chakra nature to use jutsu it just makes learning certain jutsu easier to learn and master

you don't need to know your chakra nature to do ninjutsu the academy 3 don't have a chakra nature requirement to learn or use
