you know, at level 39, phantom would be much faster than this...
I'm primarily cracker, so I'm not Chinese myself. I forget exactly why I made him ethnically Chinese, but it was probably related to TLM itself being a Chinese story and for the martial arts you mentioned. I think I thought it would be interesting to have someone with actual fighting skills get transmigrated rather than a Player who simulated fighting skills.
Ohhhh, this. I do kind of remember this! I think that, while this is possible, it's equally as possible for EsGod to say "so like why should I pay you?" and then snatch your ability up. It's a rather dangerous play for someone to make- especially when they're such a fresh Super. Someone who did kind of do this was the Darkstar Leader, who sold Ember's ability to EsGod, but he didn't get paid in cash.
they are on stage at the moment, that's why
The construction of the trans-continental railroad in the antebellum period of American history saw the first large amount of Chinese come to the US to work on the railroad. Many left, but many stayed as well. California, in later years (1880s), felt it had too many Chinese and this passed the Chinese Exclusion Act to bam migration from China and make a head tax for current Chinese living on America, regardless of their citizenship status. This history has the Chinese being a foundational migrant group to the US around the same time as the Italians and Irish, though when we see an American with the name "Patty Coughlin", we don't really question the Americaness of his identity and instead know his general ethnic background. I hope the reasoning behind this message is clear.
I don't think you can really sell Esper abilities.... maybe I'm mistaken
this is Lothaire
Yeah, I agree that it's not a bad read. I just wanted people to know what they were getting into... as for where my chapters are, I have to go on a months long mission to save them from the abyss...
As a warning to any new readers of this fan fiction, this story is heavily assisted by AI. The author does at least have some sort of storyline in the background that steers the AI, and they insert their own writing voice from time to time, but it is mostly written by AI. That being said, this story isn't a complete piece of trash. We should start with the best thing about this fan fiction, that being its consistency. The upload schedule is very consistent (which it ought be if it's written with heavy AI help). A consistent upload schedule is extremely rare in TLM fan fics, with only 3 really having this. One is a jump-chain fic, and the other doesn't use the system. This fan fiction does use the system, but that brings us to the first problem. The system is not used accurately. The author at least told the AI a good amount about TLM's systems and the world, but the AI doesn't get the numbers right. Basically all of the missions at first give 50k exp, which isn't realistic given that, by my chapter, the main character hasn't even become a Grade E Super. In the chapter I'm currently on, the main character fights an Esper while the main character has four ish friends with them. It's presumed that Hodell's "friends" are around his level of 20 (pre advancement, so he's still Grade F). But Hodell beats the guy without much effort, and the death screen shows that this guy is actually level 39! This actually isn't possible for him to do! A level 39 Esper Super actually clears a team of non-Super level 20s in the original story. This is the most egregious example that I've seen so far. Does this mean that the story is unreadable? Given the state of TLM fan fictions (ahem, I know I'm part of the problem), no. It's not unreadable. If you ignore the problems, it's a good enough read that feels somewhat similar to the original. It also shares some similar story beats to the original. I'd like to see what the author does with Han Xiao in the future, so I will still be reading. However, while I do understand that the author has trillions of other projects, I would still prefer if the author could at least fix the system stuff. Though I don't expect anything. I hope this review was helpful to anyone considering or reading this fan fiction. Despite the rather harsh review, I'm still glad we are getting more and more stories in the fandom. The intent behind this review is more to have people do better and put their own voice into their writing rather than relying entirely on AI (trust me, a lot of us can tell. I'd rather see your genuine voice than know it's a tinskin clanker).
