u know, originally it was a year, but there is a pairing in the story and i wanted rin to at least be an *****. I put two extra years because (spoiler alert) 2,931 is really fuckin' old to be dating a teenager. (scuse my french)

:) u got it right! However, if you want curb stomping! Rin, than you have to wait until helm's deep, where the army approaches in a condensed, flammable mass from one direction. lol

You have a good point, my friend. However, I did do things this way for multiple reasons. 1. Rin's main power is fire, which no matter how satanic would not be the best choice to fight a creature of fire. 2. His sword wouldn't deal a huge amount of damage to the Balrog. 3. It's important for Gandalf to fall. 4. In the way the story goes, Rin acts on impulse, and he messes up because of it. 5. Rin is under trained in the story. He was dropped into Arda before the Impure King,(Sorry if you don't know when that is.) so while he has better basic control over his flame, he isn't the same. I would also really appreciate if you didn't blatantly accuse me of lying on my story. I try to do my best to please all of my readers, but for my plot to work Gandalf had to fall and become the White Wizard. If you would like to write your own fic where Rin defeats the Balrog, please go ahead and I would gladly beta-read for you! :)
