It would be interesting to think that the reason he hated the web novel was because his 'true' self was portrayed as nothing more than an insignificant minor antagonist. I would like to think that something at his 'core' had an aversion to the story that showed through even without any former memory or attachment to it.

If you watched the show you would realize that Lex can be intrusive at times. He on several occasions steps in to help the Kents and Clark specifically, this isn't out of character for him. MC is not and will never be into guys but he does find Lex to be an Intriguing person and wants a real friendship with him. No romance just bromance
