Just because I know the outcome, doesn't mean I know the moment it happens. The way you presented this development didn't sound like a full defeat yet. There are still weaker gods that can be killed, an army of transcendends, maybe some research to get through the god fire... All the Celestial Supreme did was change one weakness for a strength. It would be better to say that the checkmate is in a few chapters with the new level of Heavenly Tribulations. And even then, Legion-7 was not fully defeated, but still scheming in the shadows.

Not really checkmated. It would mean, that the Will of the plane has already won. The fight is not over, so calling it checkmate makes no sense.
