keep in mind that first-hand experience and second-hand experience is different. It's easier to say, 'Owh I'm smart' in second-hand because you're not in such situation, but in first-hand experience, you can't really predict what's going to happen. ngl this whole scene could've been really good if the rules were not even rules in the first place (or the king is not even the king) but whatever is relevant to the story
