Yeah… 7 months ago I wrote this comment. I was probably high. Also, I usually write in too passive as a tone, but here the author basically capitalizes the term The Mafia which signifies a group, singular. It’s like saying the band ‘The Who’. It creates a tonal form of harshness or inclusion. Writing ‘the mob’ is such a generalization of the group, it fits better with the sentence tone and/or specificities.

Why the denial?

Hmmm… don’t know about this, but of course he is only 14… I give him a decade to figure out that life is best shared.
